Fjällräven Polar starts tomorrow!
In mid-December, just a few days before Christmas, I received the good news that I was selected by the jury to be one of the two Swedes that would participate in the 2017 edition of Fjällräven Polar – a 300 km long journey with sled dogs through northern Sweden! Since then I haven’t heard much more about it, the only the information I’ve got is that I will be provided with everything I need for the adventure and that the following days will look like this:
Monday, April 3:
Meet up with the other participants in Stockholm. It will be a day for us to get to know each other, try out our equipment and get all the information we need to make it to the finish line.
Tuesday, April 4:
Flight to Tromsö, Norway where we will meet the dogs and get some more training.
Wednesday, April 5 – Saturday, April 8:
The adventure begins and takes us about 300 km from Signaldalen in Norway to the lake Väkkäräjärvi, outside Kiruna in Sweden.
Sunday, April 9:
Flight back to Stockholm.
So, tomorrow it starts and since I don’t know any more than this I’m so excited for what this week will bring! Apparently, there will not be any cell service up in the Northern wilderness, so it might be hard for me to post anything while I’m there, but I will certainly try! Fjällraven themselves will, however, send out video reports from the adventure via satellite connections for those who want to follow:
